{"id":6,"date":"2008-08-02T02:57:24","date_gmt":"2008-08-02T10:57:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kevware.wordpress.com\/?p=11"},"modified":"2011-03-26T23:20:25","modified_gmt":"2011-03-27T07:20:25","slug":"rss-who-knew","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kevware.com\/geek\/rss-who-knew\/","title":{"rendered":"RSS&#8230; who knew???"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Along with trying to fix the issues involved with moving to a new host, I also have been working hard trying to find the best way to incorporate an RSS feed onto my website homepage.\u00a0 And let me tell you, it ain&#8217;t been easy.\u00a0 Did you know that there are some really janky sites that generate even jankier code for you?\u00a0 Yeah it&#8217;s code that you don&#8217;t have to figure out yourself, but it also has there website links, bad formatting, mixtures of javascript and html.\u00a0 Even the sites that generated php code never gave me code that I even saw function correctly.<\/p>\n<p>Finally I found RSS2Html.\u00a0 Seemed easy enough.\u00a0 And for the most part it was.\u00a0 Formatting was a little tougher.\u00a0 The php file that generates the feed via a preset template (that you can format and style as you wish) is a little on the rough side.\u00a0 I use it in an include (inserted into and iframe) on my home page, and if you look at the code it isn&#8217;t formatted well.\u00a0 But the published page on the server looks good&#8230; and in both IE and FF.\u00a0 So even though it took me a long time to get there, I finally have a home page that is beginning to look the way I want.\u00a0 And mostly, it&#8217;s looking like a home page that is no longer embarassing!
